Yes, we come to Eagle for car keys and lockouts
Keys On Wheels is a mobile locksmith based in Meridian, and Eagle is part of our everyday route. We open locked cars and trunks, make new keys when every key is gone, program smart keys and remotes, add spares, and repair ignitions that won't turn. It is all done at the vehicle, so nothing gets towed.
Most makes and models are covered, from Subaru and Toyota to BMW and Cadillac. Home jobs are on the list too, like a house lockout.
The drive up from Meridian
Most Eagle trips start on Eagle Road. It runs north from our side of the valley, crosses Chinden Boulevard and the Boise River, and meets State Street in Downtown Eagle. For the west side of town, Linder Road is often the better line.
Traffic around I-84 and the State Street lights changes the timing, so we don't post a number. Tell us the cross streets or the lot, and on the call we'll say when we can be there.
Where Eagle drivers end up calling us
- Eagle Island State Park. A beach day, a smart key in a tote bag, and doors that locked on their own. Tell us which lot you're in.
- Boise River Greenbelt access points. Runners and riders clip a key to a shoe or pocket, and it can drop on the path. A new smart key can be made at the trailhead lot.
- Downtown Eagle on event days. Street parking fills and keys get set down while you unload. Give us the nearest corner.
- School pick-up lines. A passenger taps the lock on the way out, the door shuts, and the key is still in the ignition. Tell us the school and which side of the lot you're on.
A child or a pet shut inside a car on a hot or freezing day is a 911 call first. Call us after that.
Push-to-start trouble: what to try first
When the dash says the key isn't detected, a weak fob battery is the usual cause. Most smart keys hide a small metal blade: slide the release, pull it out, and open the driver's door with it. Then press the fob itself to the start button, because many cars can still read a fading fob there. Our dead fob guide explains it.
If that fails, or the fob is gone, a new push-to-start smart key is programmed to the car at the curb. On many vehicles the missing one can be removed from the car's memory.
